Our Philosophy:

The vision for Peas in the Pod Daycare is to be dedicated to our children and families. I strive for our children to be independent thinkers through a play-based learning environment. In doing this I believe the environment plays a vital role. It is important to nurture every child’s development and growth as an individual, while providing support to the families. My goal is to allow children to develop their mind, body, and natural sense of curiosity through play by providing educational activities, materials, and equipment. It is important that children can express themselves through art and through play. Play is a key factor for children in dealing with emotions and learning about their world. Every child is unique, and I plan my curriculum around the needs of the children.

Our Goal’s and Objectives:

The goal of Peas in the Pod Daycare is to provide all children enrolled with a developmentally appropriate program that emphasizes the different areas of children’s development, which are physical, cognitive, emotional, and social. Our classrooms are set up with a “hands-on” approach and provide opportunities for both self-directed and teacher directed activities. Children are given choices as to the activities they participate in. Teachers use observations, interest, and abilities of children as well as individual needs to determine curriculum. A major goal is positive social interaction. The objective of Peas in the Pod Daycare is to provide an environment that will allow children to feel good about themselves, approach challenges with optimism, explore their world with confidence and competence, and ultimately reach their full potential

Our Program:

Peas in the Pod’s programs are designed to meet the individual child’s basic developmental needs: social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and creative while responding to the needs of families. Our programs hours are from 7:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. Our curriculum is theme based and includes a daily art and circle. Some of our themes include: Ocean, Fairy-tale, Outer Space, Dinosaurs, and Jungle etc. Themes are used to expand the child’s knowledge of their own world and they are integrated within the learning activity centres whenever possible. We have a structured daily routine which includes morning and afternoon snack, lunch, rest/nap time, and indoor/outdoor free play. We also offer a phonics program. Our daycare has many different learning centres including Library/ Reading Area, Calendar Area, Dramatic Play, Blocks, Sensory Table, Free Art, and Cooking! (Assisting Teachers to prepare snacks and meals.) We also have a fully fenced playground area which features climbing structures, slides, sandbox, garden, etc.
